“Don’t get caught using AI,” and
“Without AI i wouldnt be able to build it,”
were two immoral confessions I heard around it’s use lately…
The first, is attempting to play both sides, and convince themselves they’re maintaining a moral balance.
The second, is the confession of a greedy capitalist, who’s happy to extract productivity at the expense of everyone else: “learning data” is based of other people’s work, unethical collection of learning data it uses, the environmental impact, and the user’s loss of autonomy and critical thinking.
You’re not building anything. It’s derivative. Your mind didn’t work on it. It’s like ordering food at a restaurant and calling it your cooking.
The underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill; while removing from the skilled, the ability to access wealth. Why are you surrendering the means of production to the oligarchs?
Work with humans, stop dismantling ethics and destroying the environment, because you’re lazy. Gen AI is slop. 👎🏻
